If you’re feeling unappreciated and your voice doesn’t seem to be heard with your superiors, it’s time to sit down and (re)watch Erin Brockovich. This inspirational movie was based on a true story, which makes it even more relatable. With three kids, a shabby apartment and a lack of experience, this woman had a gut feeling and a whole lot of perseverance as well as convincing power. If she could take down a large California company polluting the state’s water supply, you can get through the workday too.
The Theory of Everything
Still alive and still enormously appreciated, theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking is a living legend and an enormous inspiration. Eddie Redmayne did a wonderful portrayal of this amazing scientist, and if he can continue to work despite his enormous physical limitations, there is no telling what you can achieve, so if you’re moping around, see this movie and get your act together.
There is nothing we don’t love about this inspirational movie. Again, based on a true story, the movie is a depiction of three geniuses working in NASA, struggling to get ahead simply because of the color of their skin. Well, with a lot of studying, a court order that allowed one of the three women to attend an all-white school, and a brilliant computer who wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself to her white superior, you have not one but three inspirational figures that will not just give you motivation, but guts and guile to push through the obstacles and keep going.
The Devil Wears Prada
Sure, Andy thought about quitting and had a mini nervous breakdown after every day spent with Miranda Presley. However, Andy did not quit, she became everything Miranda wanted from an assistant and then some more. If you’re feeling like your flaws are constantly pointed out and all your good work seems to go unnoticed, watch The Devil Wears Prada and pay close attention to Nigel’s speech before he decides to give Andy a makeover. Perhaps it will ring close to home and serve as a crude yet effective awakening.
A writer with zero success in both the career and romance department discovers an experimental drug called NZT that allows his brain to go far beyond its abilities and achieve enormous success. Still, this comes with an enormous price, so if you are looking for something to boost your concentration levels, never take pills from strangers, but turn to something like nzt-48 which is safe and tested. It will improve your memory and inspirational without any of the awful side effects.
The Suffragette movement was about gaining equality, the right to vote, the right to be paid and treated fairly in your workplace. These women sacrificed their families, were separated from their children and some of them died for their ideals, fighting the good fight. When it comes to perseverance, sacrifice, and courage, it doesn’t get any better than this film, so if you’re feeling like everyone is walking all over you, watch this and rediscover your inner rebel fight.
Dreaming big but stuck in a rut? It’s time to introduce Joy into your life. Joy Mangano is a single mom with a half-crazy mother and an absent father stuck in a dead-end job. She invents a self-wringing mop (the real one) but has problems with marketing and selling it. Manufacturers even try to swindle her, but she takes matters into her own hands and takes her patient back. Several years later she’s a super-successful entrepreneur who helps others patent their inventions and make their dreams true. If you feel like there is something bigger and better out there for you, this inspirational movie will show you that you can never, ever give up on your dreams, even if everyone sabotages you and tries to take you down.
La La Land
There is more than one reason for which this inspirational movie is a must-watch. The first incredible and charismatic duo comprised of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. There are romance, and love and dancing. The bitter-sweet lesson that sometimes we can’t have it all and that even the greatest of love stories have to give way to career and other dreams. The most important lesson, however, is that despite rejection, humiliation and demeaning jobs, there is a chance that you too will get to the top someday, even if the situation seems hopeless now.
Ok, you have to have been living under a rock if you haven’t seen at least a couple of the Harry Potter inspirational movies. Yes, they take place in a magical fictitious world, but one thing is for certain – if three kids can beat one of the most terrifying villains in cinematic history, you too can get up in the morning, put your work armor on and conquer another workday.
Good Will Hunting
The movie that put two aspiring actors/directors (Ben Affleck and Matt Damon) on the map is a truly inspiring story of not just how two young guys can rise to stardom, but how a mathematic prodigy who works as a janitor at MIT can shine and reach his true potential, with the help of a good mentor of course.
The Blind Side
If this inspirational movie doesn’t leave your eyes full of tears and your heart full of hope, we don’t know what will. Michael Oher is intellectually limited, but an amazing football player. He is adopted by a loving family and despite scrutiny and judgment from all the other ‘southern ladies who lunch’, Leigh Anne Tuohy persevere and help Michael reach his full potential and even see him go off to college. You might not have a strong southern lady having your back, but you can rise above and conquer all obstacles.
The Help is the movie that will make you laugh, cry, and repeat. It’s a story of a young woman named Skeeter who decides to write a book that’s a testament to what it’s like to be an African-American maid working for cruel and racist rich women. Even though these women know they could be fired, arrested or killed for sharing their stories, they still share them. If they could fight segregation and tell the truth in the sixties America, you can buckle down and get things done, no matter how scary they might seem.
